Talbiya:
A Muslim shows his devotion from his entry into the state of
Ihrám, throwing stones at Mina and devoutly shouting "labbayka,
labbayka".
A pilgrim who makes the restricted pilgrimage , or 'Umra,
performs the talbiya - that is, shouts labbayka - from the place where he
should start his Ihrám, until he enters the Sanctuary, Sacred and touches the
Black Stone.
It is desirable that this cry be preferred aloud. The
talbiya is one of the rites of the Pilgrimage and of the restricted pilgrimage,
and, according to the prescriptions of the Prophet, it should be said as
follows:
'' Here I am (labbayka), Oh, God! Here I am! Here I am! You
have no associate. Here I am ? May the praises and Grace be yours, and may Your
Authority be unchallenged. " When the muhrim dresses, he begins by saying: labbayka
labbayka (here I am, Lord!) Expressing his intention to fulfill this act,
whether his journey is intended by the Hagg or the 'Umra, or the two
assembled.
